About

Brianna Hsiao Hsuan Chu

graduated from the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2018, earning her honorary Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Psychology. In 2018, The Guardian ranked St Andrews as the top university in the UK for Politics and Psychology. She focused her IR studies on intersectional feminism, the Internet, nonviolent activism, and the politics of the everyday. In Psychology, she focused on social rather than clinical psychology, studying the psychology of terrorism, face perception and human attraction, sex differences and gender development, and the evolution and development of social and technical intelligence.

Brianna’s career goals are to continue to learn and develop new skills and challenge herself, while also contributing in some way to the growth and betterment of her local community, wherever she may be. Her personal goals are to listen, share, and tell stories throughout her life, in whatever media she can—whether that is through writing, visual arts, performance, or simply sharing in everyday life.

She started volunteering for Learning Works! Charter School as a freshman at Polytechnic High School, teaching English, physics, and math. In university, she was active in many parts of the Students’ Association: from student journalism to accommodation to Alumni relations to student government to volunteering. As the Administrative Coordinator at Mundo Academy, she helped the company further their goal of not only providing quality academic support to students of all backgrounds and learning styles, but also providing academic programs to underserved students at LAUSD at no cost to the families through partnerships with the school district. As the Digital Storyteller for the Pasadena Educational Foundation, she helped tell the stories of the incredible teachers, students, parents, volunteers, scholarships, and opportunities within the Pasadena Unified School District. Her pieces for the Pasadena Independent (now Hey SoCal) help showcase locally owned and operated restaurants and small businesses.

She currently holds the position of Entrepreneurship Programs Coordinator at Caltech’s Office of Technology Transfer.

Wherever life takes her, Brianna aims to uplift the voices of others, share stories, and spread empathy.
